Summer Undergraduate Research Symposiums

A number of Purdue undergraduate math students who have been doing research with faculty in the math department this summer will be presenting their results at two symposiums highlighting undergraduate research on campus this week.

At the Purdue Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium on July 28, the following group of students who worked with faculty member Thomas Sinclair will be giving a presentation of their research.

Colton Griffin, Sanchita Chakraborty, Micky Santiago-Zyas, and Yuxiao Wang: “New framework to compute tight bounds on norms of Haar random unitary matrices.”

On July 28-29 as part of the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Symposium, the following students who have been working with faculty member Alexandria Volkening will be presenting their research projects.

Caroline Henson: “Making simulated patterns look real: Image processing for zebrafish”
Ryan Branstetter: “Improving the accuracy of U.S. elections forecasts”
Mengqi Liu: “Forecasting the 2022 U.S. midterm elections: data visualization and website design.”
